Dutch Oven Cooking Classes are a fun way to learn to use those black pots!
Classes start with the basics: types of Dutch ovens; recommended accessories; care and use of an oven; cooking techniques; and heat/temperature management. You will prepare a loaf of bread (or rolls) from scratch (YES, that means kneading and letting it rise). You and a partner will also prepare either a main dish, side dish or a dessert. You do ALL the cooking with guidance from the instructors. No prior Dutch Oven cooking experience is necessary.
At the end of the class the students will get to sample what everyone cooked. Any leftovers will be yours to take home.
You will leave class with the confidence to USE that Dutch Oven!
Classes are approximately 6 hours long but please allow extra time for clean up. All Dutch Ovens, supplies and food will be provided. A class handout will include recipes as well as the basic Dutch Oven cooking instructions presented in class, and more. We provide snacks, but we don't stop for lunch, so if you require more please bring a lunch.
Keep an eye on our Home page for a schedule of classes. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver the day of class. For those who think our class is too expensive, please see this website Cooking with Cast Iron - Seattle WA Their class is half as long and twice as expensive. (Of course, we can't offer the River view)
Private group classes can be arranged for your Scout Troop, Church Group or any other group that is interested in a fun social activity where you can learn a new skill and eat the results. Minimum class size is 10 students, maximum class size is 16 students unless special arrangements are made.
